Baby cardinals too!

Okay, so these guys are FAR more creepy than the adorable kittens we discussed earlier this week (seriously, come take a kitten) but how cool is it that the Momma Cardinal chose the hydrangea outside of our living room window to lay and hatch her eggs?

Very cool, indeed.

We quickly learned to keep the window shut, or Tuna would yowl out the window at Momma Cardinal LIKE AN ASSHOLE.

Thank goodness the babies hatched when it was A MILLION DEGREES OUTSIDE SO WE COULDN’T OPEN OUR WINDOWS.

That’s how much we love baby animals at the Domesticait household, folks.  We’re boiling alive for them.

I'm alive! It's time to mock that cat just inside the window!

I’ll join you!

Looks like we have two more birdies to hatch, and I hope to get more crappy photos of them as the days go by.  I was trying to silently balance on a two-step in my living room to get these photos, so I didn’t scare/piss off anyone too badly.  (I’m no photographer, clearly)

I’m not quite sure what the development patterns are for infant birds, but it will be interesting to see them grow from the freaky, bulgy-eyed, bed-head worms to fluffy birdies to the beautiful adult cardinal their momma is.

Stay tuned!
